I am eyeballing the Victory VTS73MLXF.  mostly as a drop shot rod.  it has my prerequisite drop-shot sinker holder tab in the right location!!  it's perfectly located!

rod looks good aesthetically if that counts.  the numbers look right.

we liking this rod?  this will probably send my Phenix Recon into the rod tube for other duties.

Good luck with the rod. Can’t give a review on it.

I recently retired and two guys I did a lot of work for over the years got me the VTS73MXF. I’m anxiously waiting to use mine. I’m thinking more of a dedicated Senko type, craw and bug rod.

I don’t have the correct reel in mind yet. Leaning toward the NASCI (I use a few now), but might step it up to a Ultegra or Vanford. Just hard finding decent reel on a local scale in my area. Do want the correct balance.

SC Fanboy so I know I’ll like it and get it to work the way I want it to.

Good luck and have fun with it.

I have the VTS610MLXF and I like it a lot.  I've used it mostly for senkos though.  I paired it with an OG Stradic CI4 2500 adn 6# Tatsu.

I bought that rod last year and it's now my favorite spinning rod.  It can handle wacky senkos but I mostly use it for ned rigs.  30 size pflueger president XT or supreme is a good match

I have the 6'10" MLXF and the 7'1" fished them for the first time Sunday. Catches weren't big enough to really put them to test. I paired them with Daiwa Tatula 3ks. Anxious to pull one with some size to really try them out, but sensitivity was stellar. Fished a drop shot and a tube.

A lot of people did not like this rod from a kayak. You have to keep the tip low when fighting a fish, but when you can't do that on a kayak it runs out of tip fast. I got my kid the 6'10" ML/XF. On the lighter side for a drop shot, but so far so good (with braid). And it's nice and light and balances perfectly with a lightweight Tatula LT 2500D reel. Much more balanced than my Avid X.

Really like the Victory line a lot, Great rods for the price.

I’m looking at getting either this rod or the 73 version for light Ned’s and maybe even some 1/16 oz. crappie style jigs. Does the 610 you have really work with lures down to 1/16 as it is listed?

For what it’s worth the Victory 610MLXF spinning had too soft a tip for me and exchanged for the 710 MF before the 73MXF was available. Today I would consider 73MXF in lieu of the 71MF for a drop shot rod.

Have the 7'3" MXF with a 3000 Vanford and I'm loving it.

Using it to throw Big Joshy's and similar swimbaits on jig heads.

Great sensitivity and it throws the baits a mile lol.

Highly recommend, probably my favorite rod that I use.

It's not really an XF   The top third of the rod is special.

I have this same rod with a 2500 Vanford and absolutely loving it as well. Especially for drop shots and 1/8 Ned’s. I’m looking at the ML for 1/16 oz stuff but other than that, the M covers all other finesse perfectly.

I took my 3 out this weekend (all spinning).

Started with the 7'1" MF and a 4" tube with a 3/8" jig in it paired with a Tatula LT 3000 straight 0.011 mono. Very sensitive. Didn't land any worth bragging about but the biggest was just shy of #2. Felt subtle bites from the small guys and the rod handled great, but really wasn't put to the test.

Grabbed the 7'10" MMF next and had a 3/8" ball head with a 3" grub paired with a Tatula LT 3000 with #10 braid to a #8 mono leader. The length and braid really let me put that bait OUT there. I was swimming it in 25' of water back towards me at about 12' of water letting it bump bottom. Pulled a few large jaws and some smallies - again nothing to brag about and nothing that really gave a big fight.

Moved to the 6'10" MLXF with a drop shot next with a Tatula LT 2500 again with #10 braid and a #6 mono leader. Caught every 12" fish that lake had I think..so again nothing to brag about. I swapped to a ned (my go to) and caught the nearly #2 smallie and the tip is very fast. It's not as stout as other ML I own but made that #2 very fun.

I'm very happy with these rods so far. They are the nicest rods I own and I might have some bias because I WANT them to be great. Being that they are a step up from my others, I don't know if ANY $200.00 rod would have me saying the same thing. I really like the cork and how long it is above the reel seat (I have large hands so I still have my index on the blank and my pinky below the reel so it's a great/comfortable purchase when hauling one in. In hindsight, I would have gone with the 7'3" MLXF as the 6'10" just doesn't feel like enough..I'd like to have more rod to work with.

thanks you all.

i'm gonna box a few spinning rods and send them to texas for my annual Stiper and Hybrid trips.  just leave them there, so i wont ever have to fly with rods.

making space for a Victory.

Just wanted to add to this post for anyone else who is curious. I purchased the 73 MLXF and man that rod is MONEY. I love my 73MXF for many things, but the medium light compliments it perfectly for super light neds, hair jigs, and 1/16 ounce jig heads suspending small fluke plastics like a Damiki rig. I don’t see how this rod could be seen as underpowered so I’m guessing it is very different than the 610MLXF. On my first trip out I already pulled in a 5 pound LMB and was able to control it without issues.

Addition: neither of the 73 models have the drop shot hook keeper unfortunately.
