I’m thinking of getting some NRX Slinning rods.

 

i see there are shaky head rods, ned rig rods and spin jog rods, not really sure if these titles would be all that different in the real world does anyone have any suggestions as far as the best ones?

specifically confusing is the 822 drop shot rod and the 822 shaky head rod.  they look identical

Yes. 821 ned rig and 872 jwr are awesome. 

 

I use 821 for ned rig and wacky senko, and the 872 is the best shakey head rod ever created.

NRX Spinning Rods are over priced.

SC Victory 7’3” MLXF and 7’1” MLF are equal at 1/3rd the price point, lighter weight better balance and equal sensitivity.

852s is my all-time favorite spinning rod. Can do almost everything but predominantly puts its time in as my wacky senko rod. Caught some giants on it and never had a problem keeping them pinned.

I have the SYR and it's a bit more powerful. The DSR has a softer tip and is exceptional with vertical drop shot, but since I do more horizontal drop shotting I went with the SYR.

My favorite is the 852 also.  A great all around rod for bottom baits.  Nothing as sensitive.  

What’s the difference between 852 and 872, other than the 2 inches. 

Also looking for some Reel reccomendations to go with.

Also wondering what the advantage of an 822 would be over an 852?

The 2 inches makes the tip a bit softer and 872S casts a bit further as a result.  I have both when I'm fishing shallow with wacky rigs and light Texas rigs for largemouth I always go 852S.  When I'm throwing shaky heads or small paddle tails for spots out deeper I prefer the 872S.

Depends on budget I came across a used Stella on another forum and I have it on my 852S feels awesome.  I have a Pflueger Patriarch XT on my 872S don't like the line lay of it much so if I come across a better used reel on a forum I'll likely swap it.

so it’s safe to assume that for just drop shorting the 822 is preferred?

Many guys dropshot with 872S for big smallies up north.  I've read the 822 DSR is more a one trick pony because of it's action it's great at straight below boat vertical dropshotting but not as good for casting and drag dropshotting.

I used to fish alot of Lk St Clair and I absolutely loved the NRX 872s as a drop shot rod. It worked well out there. When times got tough I sold it but I really miss that rod.

so if I get an 852 and an 872, is there any need for an 822?
