BradleyC Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 What’s going on everyone, I am currently trying to find new ventures in the bass fishing world to get me out on the water more. I do not own a boat so it has been a bit of a struggle. I’m located in Southern Maryland but I have a hard time finding people that’ll share the back of their boat lol. I’ve been looking to join clubs or teams based out of SOMD, but either nobody will respond to an email or the websites are super outdated. If anyone from around me has any tips or is a part of a good club with a co spot available i am super interested. I’m trying to expand my knowledge and reading articles only goes but so far lol. DaubsNU1 Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 You might think about getting a belly-boat, some waders and kick fins. Not glamorous, and you won't be able to fish a bunch of different areas...but it will get you on the water. After a few years with the belly-boat, a buddy got a canoe. More access! Hang in there and keep grinding! 1 Quote

Super User casts_by_fly Posted August 1, 2022 Super User Posted August 1, 2022 can't help with maryland, but most of the clubs up here don't use websites. For the most part, everything is facebook. I'd start there. If you search bass tournaments "southern maryland" (or insert your area here), you'll get some hits for who is holding tournaments and when. At a minimum it is a listing of active clubs. You could also show up a bit before weigh in time and chat with the organizers. Lots of kayak tournaments around which would mean getting a kayak, but you could use it as networking. Or just get a kayak and start exploring yourself. After a bunch of back boating, tournament fees, gas money, etc you'll be able to get into a kayak pretty quickly for the same money. 1 Quote
Junger Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Not really a SoMD specific club, but they do tournaments all over the DMV with co-angler spots, run by @Logan S: https://www.fishonbassanglers.com SoMD has lots of fantastic access to water IMO, Pax River, Wicomico, various parts of the Potomac...just look on Google Maps. Buy a cheap/used kayak that is light enough to strap to your car roof top and get out to skinny water. 2 Quote
Logan S Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Thanks @Junger - Yep, FOBA is always open and welcoming...though we are based in MoCo. Getting to the places we actually fish is about the same though, We've got members from Baltimore, Hagerstown, DC, and NoVA so it's not just a central MD thing. Check out our site if you're interested, we keep it updated after every event and have a lot of resources and stats on there. I try to not spam the boards, so I make 1 post every season about it - You can find it here. Quote
