Top end? where is that in relation to the canal leading to Fort Loudon Lake?

Gar are definitely not protected. They are garbage disposals with sharp scales. The upper end is way up the Little Tennessee River, to the headwaters below Chilhowee Lake, some of my favorite places in the country and great fishing.

Gar aren’t protected, people shoot them with arrows for fun. Complete opposite end from the canal, up toward chilhowee dam is the cold water

My buddy got a 38” striper and a 20” walleye this morning. He gave me the striper, I was working a block away. I’ve got it in my work truck in trash bags full of ice hahah
