Hobie H crate ?

Featured Replies

Picked up an H crate with 4 built in rod holders. how do i add more rod holders? is there something hobie or another manufacturer makes to create more rod storage.  looking to hold 8 rods in all.

looking for any attachments or creative ways to carry more rods vertically.

thanks

The cheap way is PVC pipes (1-1/4" or 1-1/2") and zip ties.  Or you could buy premade rod holders and zip tie them on through the holes in the H Crate.

Hobie also makes rod holders for the H Crate you could buy and add on.

I put 4 tubes like these across the back of my H crate.  The h crate has hex holes inside that fit 10-32 or 3/8" nuts.  Get you some short 10-32 bolts, nuts and washers and they go right in.  I did have to drill new lower holes in my tubes to line up, but they are a fraction of the cost of the Hobie tubes that do line up.  I want to say those are $35 per tube.  Crazy.

PVC, a drill, a router, a few small nuts and bolts, and a heat source and wine bottle to make the flared end.

$3 dollars each. but if you wanted to do this you wouldn't have bought a Hobie I guess.

I’d go with the yak attack blackpak next time.   The middle sized one.  Totally seamless.

Agree.  Expect to see additional blackpak accessories in the future.
