Finished: Organic lure, made with cottonwood and clamshells.

Featured Replies

I brought it down to the water today and tried it out. I call it the Organic Lure. A cold day here in Maine but not as could as it should be. This lure made with cottonwood and clamshells picked up in Nebraska and Michigan on an 8400 mile camping trip the wife and I did in the spring. The lure, interestingly has some of the best action in a lure I've made. And I make everything except the hooks. There is a video of how it was made and of it in the water. Here's a picture. IMG_3458.thumb.jpeg.5fbfdcd89620e736f10073ce8638a8a1.jpeg

Nice looking lure.

BTW, you’re more than welcome to take all the cottonwood from Michigan. None of us will mind.

NIce tree. I was told they break easier than many other species. We had parked our truck and small camper underneath a grove of them. A huge wind rolled across the lake towards us. Hard to walk into type of wind. I pulled all of it out into a field. Good thing... lots of branches came down. Some enough to dent. What's with this sudden onslaught of wind there anyway? Happened twice in a week.

Well if it were July, the onslaught of wind was probably because of the cottonwood trees. When that white crap is falling it’s almost always windy so it blows it all over the place. It gets all over the lakes and on your line and can make fishing not enjoyable at all. Where I am in the middle of the state it seems like there surrounding every lake.

So if you want to ramp up production on your lures, come on up and I’ll help you cut everyone of them down. ?

Very nice!  And clever!

I thought this was going to be a thread about using gummy worms, to be honest.  But this is much cooler!
