G Loomis IMX-Pro lure ratings

Featured Replies

Are the lure ratings on the IMX-Pros correct? Example, the 812c JBR jerkbait rod claims to be a medium with lure rating of 1/4 to 3/8 ?. Is this correct? If so then their jerkbait rod would be overpowered with the most popular jerkbait out there, Vision 110!! I know these ratings are just a guide line but I’ve found most of the rods I own typically have a sweet spot less than the high end of stated rating.
I also thought a 2 rating is more of a ML based on their rating system.

Thanks,

Paul

It varies from model to model as to whether the rods rating seems a little high or low.  You really need to find someone with that particular rod and hear their thoughts.

Loomis seems to rate most of their rods as follows:

UL - up to 3/16 oz (or 1/8 oz)

L - up to 5/16th oz

M up to 3/8 oz (esp on spinning models)

MH up to 5/8 or 3/4 oz depending on the model

H up to 1 oz

this seems to be how their spinning rods go. and some of the casting rods too .
