Dobyns Champion 703c- What do you use it for?

Featured Replies

I have a previous generation Champion 703c that hasn't been getting much use.  I don't pitch plastics as much as I used to and prefer to use a GLX843 when I am pitching plastics.  So what do you use the 703c for and what tactics do you feel it is best suited for?  Do you agree that it is more of a medium power than a medium heavy?  TIA

I agree that it's more of a medium than a heavy.  I use mine for swimbaits, 1/4-3/8 ounce.  I also have a 702C and a 704C and I feel the 703C is best suited for the purpose I mentioned.

Yes, Its softer than a 3 power Loomis. I like mine for flukes, floating worms, 1/4-3/8 oz. spinnerbaits and smaller topwaters like poppers or chugbugs ect.

Everybody always talks about the 733 and 734 and they are super versatile rods, but I really like the 703 and 704.

My fishing partner has one he uses it for smaller spinner baits and 1/4 - 3/8 ox jig head with a hula grub.
