How do you use Gamakatsu Weighted Superline Spring Locks

Featured Replies

Is anyone a fan of these?  What sizes do you like?

I don't use the Gammys, but I do use the Owner equivalents...VMC also has their own....

If I want to burn a soft-swimbait but keep it deeper, I'll use a weighted spring-lock hook. 1/16-1/4oz depending on the depth and speed I want to run it.

First thing is to dump the gammy springlock and replace it with an Owner CPS keeper. They're sold separately. While I use a lot of Owner CPS type hooks, they rust very quickly in typical salted plastics, so I use them in my far less salted JDM plastics. Gamakatsu uses much heartier plating which is very rust resistant, so I use them on baits known to eat the Owners. Otherwise, what MN said.

swimbaits....but I also like Owner......

Thanks for the guidance, guys. I won't pitch the "Gammies", but I'll look for the Owners from now on.

Must be good.  Mostly all sold out until end of April.

I tie them on braid (or heavy mono) and spin a bait on the springy thingy, then put the point through the body so it lays straight. size depends on the bait.
