Lake Suggestion Please for Big Bass! Late March

Hey all, I am looking to do another fishing adventure somewhere in Late March anywhere from Kentucky to Texas. Only rub is I would prefer a smaller lake; one under a 1000 acres if possible. I am taking my dad out and brother and we would like to hunt for a big largemouth bass. This is definitely going to be a broad range of places to go. I guess I am indifferent to it being pre-spawn or spawn time period. Just hopefully not right before a spawn during that lull period. Detective work and feedback would be appreciated.

-Late March to first few days of April.

-Less than a 1000 acres to take my own boat for a road trip (currently living in Wisconsin)

-Preferably for big bass and not numbers. Thanks again to any feedback!

Only one I know of that's close to the size your looking for is Caney Lake in Louisiana.  Its around 5,000 acres and is known for big bass. Winning weight for a media tournament last January was close to 34lbs.

On google its shown as Caney Creek Reservoir.

I would take Bussey Break over Caney.

Have to agree. Bussey Brake has produced some monster bass since it re-opened.

Did they drain the whole lake during repairs? How did they get big fish back in there? Is it a lake that has some topo map?  Since it is so shallow, is it basically trolling motor only? Can you rent boats? Thanks all

The lake was completely drained and then re-stocked. There are several boat lanes that are clearly marked but you don't want to run outside the lanes.

You can check with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for a topo map. As far as I know there are no boat rentals for the lake.

Hope this helps.
