Help me pick a reel

Featured Replies

I have $255 credit and was looking for a froggin and small swimbait/glide bait reel. Would you go with a Tranx 200 or Tatula 200? What else would you suggest?

Tatula 200 but the curado 300 is more comparable to the line cap of tatula 200 than the tranx or curado 200.   If you are considering a tranx 200 then a tatula 200 may be too much reel.  I do like the tatula 200 for those baits and especially with big diameter non braid.

Tranx and I have 2 Tatula 200s.

I plan on this being a frog reel, with the capability to throw small Glide baits. I'm a bank/kayak guy. I have no reason  to buy a 7'9" or 8' swimbait rod and throw 9" Roman Mades. Just a simple S Waver 120, Storm Arashi, Savage Gear. Frogs are the focus with swimbait glide bait capabilities

I have both. The 150 with its Mag Z brakes is the more versatile reel for normal bass baits, including frogs, and will handle your occasional small swimbaits just fine. It has plenty of line capacity.

The tatula 200 hasn't thrown small to medium frogs that well for me w/ 65lb braid.  Distance was effected enough that I would over throw and lose accuracy.  I switched reels with that rod, and my frog game got better.  I'd trust @PhishLI

Then the tatula 150 or the tranx/curado 200 are excellent choices.
