Anyone have a high Lipoprotein score (heart disease) and taken the new medication for it (Repatha)?  It’s an injectable and $650/month… yeesh, sounds fun ?

My son in law takes it and has for several years.  It is all that works for him.

Very good, wondering if you know what his LP(a) number was before taking Repatha and after?  And also, has he had any side effects from it?  Thanks JigMan ~

My wife takes it and has for about a year now. It's helped to get her LPa numbers right about to where they need to be and no side effects that we're aware of. The only real downside is she says the shot is pretty painful, mostly a bad burning sensation when it's doing the injection.

Glad it’s working for her… I get to take my first injection Feb 1 so not looking forward to the burn but maybe small price to pay. Curious what her LP(a) was prior to taking Repatha and what it is now?

I can't remember off the top of my head but they were extremely high before she started and just about where they need to be now. She has a rare, hereditary disease where her body's cholesterol level is always high and it doesn't do anything to change diet or exercise. We were thankful that it worked because the next step was pretty drastic.

Yup, I got the same thing... all the men on my side of the family have died or had bypass surgery between age 35-59.  I guess I was next, but fortunately just a stent... My LP(a) is 251 and have been told the normal range is approx 50. Not sure Repatha gets me there, we'll see ~
