Star Rods

Featured Replies

Hey,

So I'm looking at these rods, they seem pretty nice, they use fuji components too. I'm looking at the medium light 7' 6" spinning rod "seagis" model. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? Thanks

I am a big fan of Star Rods. For bass I regularly use their Stellar Lite Fast Taper spinning rod SG817FT70. It allows me to cast weightless worms a good distance while still giving me plenty of backbone to lean into when needed. It has been excellent and done everything I expected it to. The rod build is a good quality and its performed great.

Have not handled the Seagis but I'm sure its a good rod.

Thanks for responding. I think the medium light action rod would be fun to fish for bass. Most of the bass I catch are in fairly open water, if there is any cover at all its pretty minimum. Do you think I would have any problem with using a medium light action rod?

My apologies, I actually fish SG614FT70 which is a medium light. I use this rod where there isn't much cover and I take greater casting distance at the expense of some power. I think you'll be fine with that rod.

The rod has handled fish up to 5lbs very well.

Thanks yes I figured long as I'm not ripping fish out of heavy weeds it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks again

Star is a great brand with a long history. I have multiple of the Stellar line both spinning and jigging, and other friends/family have many of their older rods. They are good to go, but keep in mind they are built with saltwater use in mind, so their powers are a little different versus bass gear. Pay closer attention to the lure weight range to get on target with what you're looking to use it for.

Yes exactly, I noticed even the medium light power rod looked like it has decent backbone. Most lures I fish are 1/4 or 3/8
