When's the last time you replaced your bow strap / clip ???

Featured Replies

Here's why I ask. I was looking at mine about 3 weeks ago, and I thought to myself, "That's looking a little weathered. Probably would be smart to replace it".

So, about a week after that, while ordering a new jack stand, and motor cover, I went on and ordered another bow strap, with clip.

The next week, I got my order. Grabbed the bow strap, and threw it under my bedcover. That afternoon, while pulling my boat out of the Delta, I cranked down on handle, and Pow ! It snapped off right in the loop of the hook !

Ha ! What are the odds that I just happened to have a brand new one right there under my bedcover...... and it had only been there for about 8 hours !

Anyway, they are cheap ! Just wanted to give everybody a friendly reminder to get one if you might need it :D

Peace,

Fish

I replaced mine @ 2years ago. Didn't like the looks of the one that was on it when I bought the boat.

Thanks Chris,I'll check mine out.

You must be living right, Chris.   :D  Thanks for the heads up.

In order to get my boat on the trailer, I have to drive it on, and I do mean DRIVE it on.  Rarely have to winch more than few inches, but a good heads up...thanks.

Hey George, my boat is light enough, and if I back the trailer in deep enough, I can pretty much pull my boat into position with the bow rope......

But of course it's a good thing to "keep your boat attached" to the trailer, when your towing it down the freeway as well :D

I guess a heavy bass boat probably wouldn't exactly blow off of the trailer anyway.... But I'd be concerned about my light aluminum, pulling it into a head wind, or side wind at 60 mph....

I am replacing mine with a chain next time ;D

Hey FishinDaddy, that is a really nice one ! The price doesn't even sound too bad for what looks like really great construction ! Probably more than I really need for my 14ft aluminum, but that looks pretty cool !

It's heavy duty that's for sure and it does look great.  Everybody that has seen it says how neat it looks.

Two years ago when I replaced the wrench.  :D

Just changed mine 2 weeks ago. It is the third strap in 5 years. If I see wear I change it out. For less than $20 its cheap indsurance.

Replaced the whole winch, cable, clip last year with this one.

My daughter can winch my 21 ft stratos up a shallow ramp by herself.

14 and already has 2 over 5 lbs

I had my bow strap break once while loading my old procraft fish and ski. To get it up on the trailer, I just tied the strap to the bow hook. It didn't look pretty, but it got me home safely.

Hey Glades, and this is probably the most likely time to break one... while cranking on it, just like I did with mine. But the last thing you'd want, would be to have it snap, after you were out on the road, or freeway !

Peace,

Fish
