Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?

Featured Replies

I kayak fish also. I like the raider better, much more room, better view since you're above the water. I can go 95% anywhere in the raider as the kayak

UPDATE!!! SORRY EVERYONE but Photobucket wants me to spend 399 dollars to host my pictures...I just refuse to do that!  You can still check the pics out with this link: http://s709.photobucket.co

  • Picked up my bass raider 3 or 4 months ago and I absolutely love it.  I did a bunch of mods including a casting deck and the deck is rock solid.  It's 3x more stable on my deck than standing in some o

Totally agree! Fished out of a friends canoe for a couple years and hated sitting so low in the water. The pelican is much more comfortable, you are able to stand while fishing also. I find standing and sitting up higher just leads to better casts and more ways to present baits to the bass. Love my little raider.

New member here, I have been reading this post for a while and finally decided join the site. I have a bass raider 10e and I love it I am planning on taking it out this weekend and I'll take a few pics of her and see what you guys think

I have paddled mine just to see how it would be in case and it is very easy to paddle as long as your paddle is long enough. Moves just fine.

That's good to know. Hope I never have to test that idea though!

Me either but it's really easy even with a loaded down boat and two people. Good workout!

I have fished in shallow water and it does just fine. Not marsh though. I'm sure would do fine. They're extremely sturdy. I love it.

Finally got my floor installed and my Big Foot switch installed this week. Took it out this morning to try everything out, AWESOME. Gotta re-wire  my Lawrance Fish Finder now cause I had it grounded through the trolling motor plug but when I hit the Bigfoot switch it shuts off. Now I have  to decide if I want to add an additional battery for just the Fish Finder or run it off my regular battery. Any suggestions?

I don't have any suggestions, but thanks for telling us about this. I never gave it any thought.

Do you have the Big Foot connected before or after the FF connection?

This made me go try out mine as I am not going till in the morning. Mine seems to work fine. How is yours spliced in? I spliced the FF in the splice with the trolling motor to the plug. The big foot switch is spliced separately up the negative side of the TM.

Mine is connected to TM then to splice with FF and plug.

I have the FF spliced in at the trolling motor to the plug. When I activate the Bigfoot switch the FF turns off

I took a pic since i have it in the carport ready to go. Where the splice goes to the FF it actually goes to a quick connect as i thought i might be disconnecting it after each trip which has not been the case. I have an inline 3 amp fuse on the line to the FF.

I appreciate the photo, pretty sure I did mine the same way. I will look at it and redo it if need be. How did you mount your transducer?

I mounted the transducer to the trolling motor. Bought the mount at bass pro. Just using electrical tape on the shaft for the cord.

Bought this on e-bay for around $20. It's unique in that the bottom of the paddle has an opening to use as a hand grip. This comes in handy for someone to pull you into shore or a dock. On the opposite end are two hooks in the handle. I use these to grip a sapling to pull me in to retrieve a lure in the branches and also to dislodge a stuck submerged lure.

Got to try out the big foot today and what a game changer. The wind was blowing but I could still fish thanks to the switch. Now when it's windy I won't just be a guide running the motor. I like that i have it on the piece of carpeted wood cause i was able to move it to the side i was facing. The boy and I caught five. talked with someone else when we were leaving and they got skunked. I get tickled that i have the limited range but still catch as much or more than most of the big boats we talk to.

Iceman71, my FF performed fine. No problems at all.

Nice to hear everything worked correctly. Will have to figure out what I did wrong to get corrected. I agree that the Bigfoot switch is a game changer. I loved using mine on Saturday. Just bummed I didn't get to use my FF. I'll get it ironed out this week so I can try it Saturday.

Iceman- check to make sure that your FF splice (specifically the ground/black wire) is before the bigfoot switch in the wiring circuit. Sounds like it might be after the foot switch, which is why you are losing the FF while using the BG switch.

I thinking of adding a second TM to the stern of my raider-10e for when I go on bigger lakes. I will have to pull my rudder out then. Do I have to make some type of modified rudder and attach it to the rear TM, or will the rear TM act as a rudder?

What kind of battery drain should I expect when making long runs with both motors on. currently have bow-30lbs MK, stern 30lb MK. Normal day of fishing a smaller lake, I start with 13.4 volts and have 12.6 when I get home on one TM. I usually fish 4-6 hours.

I have a 54 for bow, 50 for stearn, separate batteries for each. No rudder required of you disperse weight properly, even when I go bow only. I've seen a few that have rudders but it's usually found on boats that are improperly balanced.

Ok, so I checked my wiring and apparently the FF ground had come loose. So I secured the ground and it works perfectly now. So we are ready to go test out the complete setup now. Thanks guys for walking me through this cause I was really scratching my head at this. Happy Fishing.
