Soft plastic hooks (6 to 8in)

Featured Replies

Looking for weighted hook size recommendations for 6in , 7in, and 8in soft plastic lizards and curly tail worms....any help is appreciated!

I'd be looking at 5/0 personally.  I don't fish an 8", but that's enough for a 6 or 7.  A 6/0 wouldn't be bad either.  How heavy of a weight are you looking?

Not sure if you like to fish the bottom with craws or leeches.....but North Branch Tackle has a really nice sled jig setup you may want to check out. Biggest they have is 3/0 though. They work great for presenting both baits upright.

I use Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG's for 6" lizards and 7 or 8" curly tail worms. For 8" lizards I use 4/0's. I fish them Texas rigged or drop shotted so maybe go up one size to allow for the weight on the lizards?

The length is a minor consideration, the deciding factor is always the thickness of the plastic first.

90% of the time a 4/0 or 5/0 covers all the plastics I throw.
For keel weighted swim baits I’ll use a 6/0 but only when I add an under-spin.
