Glide bait setup???

Featured Replies

OK final preparation for this big bass tournament I’m in. I recently bought two large glide baits, I’m wondering if my 7‘3“ rod will be OK with the new KVD 8.3:1 I bought with 20 pound test? Or should I use my 7’6” flipping stick with the glide bait and Use the 7’3” for my flipping stick for this tournament? Your advice is always appreciated thank you

The rod is the most important part of the equation imho, these baits really require a technique specific rod.     You said large glide baits, if you a throwing something like an S Waver 168 than those will work.    Not so much on a true big glide like a 8" 3oz+ bait.

What baits are you throwing? That what we need to know.

They are 6 1/2 inch savage gear glide baits

6 1/2” Glide Swimmer is 1 3/4 oz, your “heavy fast” will work better then a flipping rod imo.

20# test is OK, use the rod to move your glide and. Reel to take up slack line. Glides need to coast on slack line.
