Matzuo hooks

Featured Replies

I have 10 of them in 4 EWG and 5 EWG. I would rate them just a tad bit below Gamakatsu hooks.  I think they are good quality for an angler on the budget.

They are good for their price (I got about 50 for $6 on sale one time) but I don't like them that much, it seems harder to set the hook with them, not sure if it's the angle or the sharpness.

I never liked the shape of the bend in the shank and the angle of the point. I can't say it affected performance but i found them annoying to rig and I didn't have confidence in the bend design.

I tried a batch of these last year and I did not care for them.  They rusted real easy and did not stay sharp for very long.  I would not recommend them.  I have been using Gamakatsu, Owner and occasionally Eagle Claw.

I use the Matzuo circle hooks. They work extremely well for me.I have used the  Owners and Daiichi circle hooks ad I think the Matzuos work just as well.  :)Ivan
