Shimano slx xt or dc

Featured Replies

How many of you have owned both xt and dc and think the dc is worth the extra money. I would pay it no problem if it is better when switching bait weights, wind, etc.  I have an xt now and thinking about returning and trying dc instead. Thanks

How about the SLX DC XT?  He’s a whole different reel and well worth the money.   It’s jdm only so you’d have to order from the Japan sites.      If you don’t want too then I’d go with the slx xt.   Dc isn’t worth it in my opinion.

I use a lot of SLX XT reels. I like them a lot.

Personally don't see any point in a DC reel. If you're good with a baitcaster, it's pointless, possibly even a hindrance. If you're not good with a baitcaster you should practice because a DC won't ever educate your thumb properly.

Personally,... I like the one in the middle between the two,.... SLX MGL would be my choice,... And has been. I've got SLX, SLX MGL, and SLX DC. I'd choose the MGL.

I’ve got the XT and my 3rd MGL on its way. They’re both great reels. I don’t see a need for the DC.

I bought a Met DC to try out the DC and wish it was not DC.  Bought it for my spinner/buzz bait rod to throw in the wind and find it does save me from needing as much fun but at the cost of distance.  Figured it'd be a good one to teach my boys in as well.  Still a great reel, but will be my only DC.

Save your money, the $100 SLX is a great reel.

Agreed it's a great $100 reel, but spending $30 more to fine tune according to conditions is more than worth it with the XT.
