Bass fishing a river system lake that’s not generating for current

Featured Replies

Hello I’m having a debate and just want to see everyone’s thoughts

As most people know current is a big deal. and current on a river system lake is also a big deal.

what if the lake is at normal pool and they are not generating. What is one great way to attack fishing a lake with docks and a lot of hard bottom points?

thanks!

This is what happens most every spring in Knoxville, they hold back all the water to bring the highland lakes up 30-40 feet. (30,000 acre lakes, that’s holding back a ton of water).

when the water is still the fish spread out and roam. When it’s ripping current they position themselves somewhat predictably. The good thing is, they can’t just skip out on eating so you can still catch ‘em. For docks, I love skipping a worm or tube under them. Also fishing docks with a jig can be very fun. For the points I also like dragging a worm but a Carolina rig instead of skipping something compact.

fish without current will give a reaction strike as well, like burning a rattle trap.

They are still there just moving around a bit, looking for food. They are used to laying in an eddy or behind some structure waiting for the current to bring the food by them.
Like @TnRiver46said fish the structures, docks kinda thing.

How swift is the current normally, are ya fishing from a boat, or bank/ wading?
