Disregard what I wrote below. I realized you are discussing about the deeper spool, sorry my bad.

Tatulatard would probably need to chime in, but you can put less line on whichever shallow spool you want to get.

A YouTube poster, Hobie-Wan Kenobie only spools "X" amount of line that is necessary. He does quite a bit of trout stream fishing and he does not need to spool line to the top, since he is casting only so many yards. I think other BFS users do this also, to get max distance from a very low weight lure; which would give the spool a faster spool speed to cast out say a 1g lure.

Nope.  Your only option for a shallow SV type spool would be the ray's long cast.

Ranks I will look that up.

Makes sense of course. Thanks.

Does the salamanduro 70 or 100 sv spool fit either the steez ct sv 70, alphas sv 70 tw or the zillion 2021

No.   It's a tatula sv 70. There are however plenty of spool options for those two reels.

Tatulatard, thank you!  I ordered from Aliexpress the shallow spool for my Coastal SV TW and a shallow spool for my OG Zillions. I bought those 2 spools during their sale last week. I'll be giving new life to my 4 OG Zillions! Thank you again!

Which shallow did you get for your Coastal?

I have a one Coastal that I pitch with 98% of the time. Wouldn't mind having a shallow spool in it.

You want the ray's studio "long cast" for tatula ct/100 with no porting for extra strength.  These use an sv brake but with a stiffer spring and thinner inducton rotor.  They pitch extremely well and are freer casting than a normal sv spool.  You can find the same spool sold under SDS customs on eBay.

I'll say, I've already changed out the inductor spring in that particular Coastal to a stiff one. Even with the giant inductor, it already pitches pretty OK.

I just don't see the point in keeping all that extra line/weight on it, so figured one of these spools would probably be a noticeable improvement.

Dredging this thread up because it's relevant to my interests. What sorts of benefits would one see from adding a salamandura 150 SV spool to a tatula CT? Any potential negative effects?

Based on my experience with a fuego CT and the old tatula sv, I assume you will get standard sv performance.

For me that would be slightly less casting distance, and far better spool control. Also expect skipping performance to greatly increase.

As always ymmv, and since I haven't tried that particular combination I can't speak to the strength of the magnets. With all of my spool swapping, I have found some reels exaggerate the sv effect more than others.

Reviving this one ...

Did anyone end up trying the Salamandura 150 SV spool swap on a Tatula/Fuego CT? If so, did it fit? How does it perform?

I've seen reviews with pictures of the 150 SV spool in Tatula CTs and old 100s on Aliexpress under the listing for that spool.  This would confirm fitment but I haven't heard any reports on performance.  I imagine it's just a higher capacity 17 or 20 Tatula SV spool.

It's made me wish I only owned fuegos and tat cts so I could have multiple of them. I really enjoy the behavior of my tatulamandura sv. I also replaced the bearings to hybrid ceramics, masterpiece over here

There is also a Salamandura 150 SV Boost reel on Daiwa China's site and Aliexpress.  I don't know when or if the spool will be sold individually but it's something to keep an eye on.  It looks like the current Tatula 100 platform in 34mm spool but with an SV Boost version of the 150 SV spool seen on the Tatula 150 SV, Coastal 150 SV and Salamandura 150 SV.  Basically the deep Tatula platform SV spool but in SV Boost form.

No longer available anymore, does look sick though. But I'm telling you the way my Tatula CT casts with hybrid bearings and previous gen sala spool is bonkers, I'm not sure how much farther that new sala with boost could cast
