Post spawn bass

Featured Replies

So I live in southern New England and I’m having trouble recently finding bass. I found areas with a ton of empty spawning beds and there’s bluegill on the beds sometimes. If I go out deeper or try around docks and other structures I can’t catch anything. Anyone have some ideas I could try? I don’t have a fish finder and would really like to find them without one. Thanks, any input helps.

Southern Maine here. Find laydowns off points. Deeper lillypads off islands/points. Shaded cover in the form of overhangs, docks, etc have all been working for me.

Sounds like those bluegill might be spawning. That is where I would stay. I believe that is usually the pattern for larger than average bass in the postspawn.

Try swim jigs, senkos, and  creature baits

Waters are different everywhere, so what works for  me may not for you . Post spawn is the easiest time of the year for me to fish . Spinnerbaits , top waters and Texas rigs work year after year by simply going down the banks and fish whatever .

Are you out in a boat, kayak? Just work the bank with a worm or a soft stickbait (Senko) until you find fish. They are there!
