Feel really bad for these folks.

Always a bummer ~

and here's one from the A-Jay archives.

I have actually had to TOW entire lengths of docks - including the boats moored to them, in the Merrimac river when the anchors that secured them broke free due to massive lunar tides.

So entire marinas were ripping down river at 7 knots.

25 to 40 unmanned boats at a time, all rafted together.

Heading right for the ice breakers on the rt 95 bridge.

Talk about a cluster.

Nothing in the manual on that deal.

So we were totally making that operation up as we went along.

No one got hurt but there was 'property lost' that day.

That little lizard was busy.

Good Times . . . .

One reason my boat spends its off time on a trailer in my barn !!  Only takes 10-15 min tops to launch and load....back in the day, we had a boat hoist with a roof, but if bad weather was forecast, we would still pull it out.

I seem to remember hearing about that. Do you still miss the salt?

I've never lived more than 5 minutes from the ocean. Wife and I love to walk the beaches in the off season. I think I'd miss it too. If you ever wanted a remembrance we could send you a care package with some sand, shells, things with a good ocean smell.?

Thanks, I appreciate the offer.

And while the sand, & shells and great ocean smells are killer.

What I miss the most is being 200 plus miles off shore.

Part of the planet few experience or even know exists.

The sheer vastness and how insignificant it makes me feel.

And during a wild storm way out there, the pure primal power of it all and that helpless feeling

that I am totally at her mercy.

Not knowing but hoping, that she'll let me live to see another day.

All of this made me realize that 'Man' as a species has a lot of nerve thinking her can 'ruin'

an entire planet. Those that do have never been to sea.

When planet earth has had enough of our foolishness,

she'll simply shake us off like the insignificant fleas we are.

Can't fool mother nature, is still true to this day !!  Look at the billions we will spend on trying to stop so called global warming....when we should be learning how to cope with it !!
