Golf Course ponds-Tampa/Saint Pete

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of any good golf course ponds in the tampa Bay Area where fishing is allowed?  Looking for some good golf course ponds to fish.

I’ve always been ask to leave a golf course pond unless it was very late evening or actually night. Well after the last golfer, my buddy lives on a course and have caught some nice bass in the ponds.

Private courses in FL are not going to allow you access. Your only choice would be to try a public course if you can find one.

Even public courses don't allow fishing. IMHO fishing GC ponds is likened to fishing in a barrel, no pressure, and 99% of  those fish have never seen a lure, so easy Pickens, i.e no real challenge.

Some golf course ponds allow fishing, but maybe not in FL.  When I've fished GC ponds there were usually others fishing there too.

There's always exceptions. None of the GC's here in so. cali allow fishing. I'm an avid golfer, and I'd hate to see someone fishing get clocked by a ball. Get hit in the head around your eyes, is not fun, been there done that.

You could probably get away with fishing the ponds over at Babe Zaharias after/before hours.

It's a wide open, public course in the middle of a neighborhood.  I lived near there for a couple of months when we first moved to Tampa and we would walk through the golf course in the evening all the time.

I never fished it for some reason (worked out of town for a good bit during those months), but I did see a few people on occasion do so.

Be mindful that some of the ponds in that area are NOT part of the golf course and fishing them would require trespassing.

Tried it out and unfortunately the ponds are a few feet below where they should be in water level.  Didn't see anything but tilapia in there so I'm not sure there are even any bass in there at all-I'd guess not given that I had no strikes.

Good to know I didn't miss out!

We have a pond in my neighborhood (Hampton Terrace) that is posted that I've been tempted to fish anyways.  I've seen a ton of tilapia in there, so I don't think I'll bother with it either.

Yea in my experience some of the FL ponds may look promising, but are not actually stocked with bass for some reason.
