Bass books related to soft plastics

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

Been a minute since I've posted.

It's been hard getting out to the water the past year or two and so I've decided to start picking up bass fishing related books. I've read Roland Martins 101 bass catching secrets which was a great read. I've recently picked up "There he is!" by Bill Dance and am interested in finding similar books that have a focus on artificial worms/or soft plastics. Any recommendations?

Thanks yall

There he is! is an old one!

There are some good threads around here with book lists -- here's one:

Many of the most often recommended books have sections that deal with plastics techniques, like the In-Fisherman Largemouth: A Handbook of Strategies and "Critical Concepts 3: Presentation, and In Pursuit of Giant Bass by Bill Murphy.

For tips and tricks, Secrets of a Champion and Bass Strategies by Kevin Van Dam, and Tim Tucker's Secrets of America's Best bass Pros and More Secrets of America's Best Bass Pros have stuff about plastics.

Also check out Slider Fishin' by Charlie Brewer.

Good question for a book written for current soft plastics since a lot has changed the past 20 years.

I would be willing to answer any questions regarding current worms and creatures presentations, techniques and sure other members are willing to be envolved.

Good point, Tom.  I love old books --many of them are solid on the fundamentals--  but probably better off not looking to print media for in-depth treatment of the most current information.

Glenn has put together current videos on several soft plastic presentations like the FreeRig and Hover Rig, Tokyo Rig come to mind. Cover Scat heavy soft plastics is another.

Could make up a list of the more traditional rigs to search.

Texas rig with sliding bullet weight.

Carolina rig, egg sinker, bead, swivel, leader hook.

Split Shot rig, #4 round.

Wacky rig, original used a swivel in the line with a weightless worm hooked in the middle.

Nail weight worm, now called Neko rig.

Drop Shot rig.

Dart jig worm.

Doodle rig, Brass n Glass T-rig.

Sled Head, bullet weight molded onto worm hook.

Keel weighted worm hook.

Slip Shot rig ( Finesse C-rig).

Ned rig (mushroom jig short stick worm.

Spider jig, Hula grub today.

Senko, Heavy Sakted stick bait.

Fluke, Donkey rig.

Sluggo soft jerk bait.

Lizard, 1st creature soft plastic.

Flick Shaky rig, ball head jig wacky hooked worm.

Skirted. Bullet worm weight.

Ring worms.

Shassy Shad, early small swimbait.

Soft plastic swimbaits, Worm King.

Hollow body swimbaits, Basstrix.

Hollow. body Frog, Snag Proof.

Solid Body frogs. (toads).

Hand pour worms.

and the beat goes on...

PS, Don Iovino book Finesse Bass Fishing and the Sonar Connection and In Pursuit of Giant Bass, Bill Murphy.
