NRX+ 843S SJR

Featured Replies

Hello I got a local guy selling a brand new nrx+ 843s sjr spinning rod for 350. Anyone use the sjr model before? How are these compare to the jwr? Is it worth picking this rod for 350 thanks guys.

I have this same rod. I normally prefer the XF action of the JWR but for different techniques I like the fast action. I would scoop this up for 350.

$350 is a good deal.

I have the 842s SJR and use it for just about anything light weight. I do prefer the JWR's for worms and light jigs but the 842 has been great for small jerkbaits, paddle tail swimbaits, and dropshot. I would almost compare the action to the MBR series in the NRX+ casting. A little softer but it has power where it counts.

Hey, what have you been using it for??

as stated the action is slightly slower. some people prefer that. it is still a fine rod for bottom contact etc and will let you throw some other stuff. Small cranks jerkbait small poppers etc.

I have use it for tube, weightless senko, free rig, jerkbait , small crank bait, and small kaitech swimbait. It does it all well very versatile.

Hey FA, I was always curious if this model nrx throws a 110 jerkbait well. What size jerkbait did you try on it? I have an 842S but curious about the MH power.

I believe that rod has been Lake Erie legend Steve Clapper's tube rod of choice for many years.

I try both vision 110 jr and regular 110. I also try it on the duo realis 120sp which is 5/8 and handle well.

How do you like your 843S SJR. I am also considering this rod. What is the lightest lure do you think this rod can handle comfortably? I have the Megabass wind buster (lure rating 1/4 - 5/8oz) and considering to add a rod that can handle slightly heavier than wind buster. That's the reason I am considering this one (lure rating 3/16 - 3/4 oz). Do you think this 843S SJR's lure rating is accurate? Besides the jerkbaits, do you throw other triple hook lures? Thanks.

I like the 843s alot. It one of the rod that I will always keep in my arsenal. The lightest lure I have throw on it is 1/4. The lure rating is accurate.I have throw 3/4 oz and 1 oz pencil weight on it no problem for walleye fishing. I only tried jerkbait and 1/2 oz crank bait on this rod. The cons of this rod is casting distance. You won't cast as far as the wind buster for sure. I myself have a windbuster also.

Thanks. Compared to windbuster, since it is the one you won’t sell, in which aspect do you think it is better? Why do you keep it since you have windbuster? I am trying to find an excuse to persuade me to buy it.

843s warranty is better and it slightly more sensitive in my hand Compared to the wind buster. It is medium heavy and will throw 1/2 oz to 3/4 lure no problem.

Thanks for all the information.
