No. I considered that one when I bought my zodias. 
 

I think the bfs rod is the same blank as the 7’2” cara though and if that’s the case it would be perfect for what you’re looking for (weedless wacky senkos).

Right, I remember you commented on my post. I got the reel taken care of, was gonna go Dobyns KD713SF for the rod but I realized I can get an Expert spinner for d**n near the name price. It’s hard to find much info on Falcon spinning rods. 

Which BFS rod are you talking about? I don’t see any BFS for the expert 

 

Anyone have experience with the 6’7’’ weightless worm casting rod? What else would it be good for? 6’7’’ seems a bit short for a worm rod.

Cara series.  They just launched two models.  I got the 7’2” and originally it had an 1/8-5/8 rating.  Same specs as the Cara 3 power spinning rod.  My suspicion is that it is the same blank and they turned it into a bfs casting rod. I think they took the same blank and cut 3” off the back to make the 6’11” model.  If that’s the case, I think the 7’2” spinning rod might be the next rod I buy.  The blank has a great bend to it.  The tip is light enough to throw smaller neds on a BFS rod (so more than fine for a spinning reel) but it transitions into power pretty quickly and there is more than enough to set the hook in a Texas rigged light wire 1/0 or maybe more, let alone a wacky rigged hook.

Thanks for this. I'll take that into consideration. When I went to buy my reel earlier (Daiwa Kage), the tackle store I went to so happened to have that Expert Finesse Jig. Sales guy let me put my new reel on it and what not.

 

I loved the feel of it..  nice, light and balanced. You could tell the blank was crisp too... BUT THEN...... As I mentioned in my original post you were looking at; the way the grip is designed on that thing just doesn't make sense to me. I tried holding it in every which way possible and wasn't completely sold on it. If I held it the comfortable way (basically holding it by the reel seat), the d**n exposed threads would dig into my hands. Not terribly, but enough for me to question why I should deal with that on a $219 stick. If I held it strictly on the cork, then I felt like I had to hold my arms out further in front of me to be able to reel sufficiently. 

 

If they would have just put the grip under the reel seat like on the Cara or any other spinning rod, I would have been completely sold. The grip being above the reel seat is just crazy to me. Maybe it's something you adapt to, who knows

To add on to this question about their spinning rods, why are all of them either slow, moderate, or moderate fast?

The weightless worm has always been popular around here as a jerkbait rod.  I think its better than the rod Falcon actually calls a jerkbait rod which has always felt too soft to me. The WW is basically a MH butt with a medium tip.

Remember, it was meant to be a floating worm rod but it fishes a popper or sammy well also.

I think it is preference in how guys hold spinning rods.  Some people prefer to hold in front of the reel stem entirely.  Some hold with 1 or 2 fingers behind the stem.  If you're a 2-finger guy, that exposed seat on the experts is going to be a pain unless you wrap it with grip tape.  The cara would be a better fit, but then they don't offer the same rods in the cara and expert all of the time.

Falcon is really behind the spinning rod market. Maybe they will rest on the casting rods but they haven't made a great spinning rod since the original experts and now without a minnow shaking rod the market is passing them by.

The 7'2" Cara would be a great minnow shaker (again on the assumption that its the same blank).  That's what I have on it now with a BFS reel (small keitech) and what I'd have on it with a spinning reel.

That would be too long for my taste, For me 6ft10 - 7ft is about right. But everybody is different. The 6ft 10 PA for example I can just tap my thumb on the blank and it shakes

without much effort.

Yeah, I hear that.  I also have a pair of 6'10" shimanos for the same purpose right now (PA and zodias), but the 7'2" has a really nice feel for doing the same so my preferences might shift a little.

Yeah I went ahead and ordered the Expert Finesse Jig. Got it on Omnia fishing for $187 shipped with a discount code. I’ve never REALLY used a spinning setup since I was a young kid so maybe I’ll figure that handle out after I get out there and use it. Worse case scenario, sell it or send it back. 
 

I called up Falcon this morning and spoke to Adrian, just to see if maybe their website wasn’t accurate and if they had a Cara Medium Spin they could ship me. He said they’re all out of Cara spinning rods and don’t expect any for a few months. I’ve got some trips coming up this month starting next week so I just went ahead and got the Expert. Might trade in for the Cara if I feel the need once they get stock in

You might find out you like it. Theoretically the rod should have a better balance point with the handle in front of the reel seat.

Havent used it outside my swimming pool yet so time will tell how I like it. I’ll be fishing Thursday-Sunday so if the senko bite is on it’ll get some good use 

 

The one thing I’ll say I noticed immediately after unboxing is how this new style Expert DOES feel a bit nicer/better finished than the old Expert. The “old” one felt super nice, I’m just saying from holding it, to me it feels a little lighter and the overall fit and finish of it is noticeably a bit nicer. 
 

I also noticed that it is made in Korea. Every other Falcon I own is made in China. Are they starting to build rods in Korea now?

interesting. They must have moved them again. That might be why there is a back order to September and limited models available.

If so that’s awesome. I’d rather it be Korea than China. Kinda threw me off too when I saw that sticker 

I have a few of the China Experts and all are perfectly fine but I have always thought the 2 I got right when they came out felt better than the others 

I got my first falcon today. I got the 7’2” lowrider MH swim jig rod. MF action. I can’t believe how. Ice the quality is and the balance for the price point. Paired it with a Shimano slx70. Can’t wait to fish it. Got it for fishing finesse jigs, compact spinner baits, mini bladed jigs, lightness rigs and such.   

I have a question about the lower end rods. Are the Evo and Bucoo spinning rod Light blanks different? I know the grips are. Evo is full length while the Bucoo is split grip. Evo is $59 while the Bucoo is $54. If they're different I would want to try them out. I have been really enjoying the Evo light rod. So while I was at an academy earlier I was digging through the falcons. Found a Bucoo and a lowrider Light spinning. I'll get them both to add to my Evo if they're different blanks.

where are you getting the bucoo for $59?  That's a closeout price.

The Light and UL Bucoo spinning rods go for 54. Even the Lowriders are less than regular Lowrider price. They are $99.

ah, so they are.  I hadn't looked at the very light models so never noticed that.  I bet the 7' ultralight bucoo would make a nice little trout rod.  Shame it's 1 piece as it could be a great truck rod.
