Site suggestion: Kayak specific forum

Featured Replies

We don't have a forum for site suggestions so I'll put this here. Hey @Glenn I was thinking maybe we could make a forum specifically for kayaks separate from boaters forum. What do you think?

Maybe everyone here will think I'm nuts and not be into it as well, but I was hoping it would spawn more kayak fishing discussions that way. What do you all think?

I am a kayak user and have been for 2+ decades but I don't think there is nearly enough to warrant a kayak specific page on here.  I mean other than kayak rigging teh fishing part of kayak fishing is the same as anything else.  I could see more use out of a bank fishing specific page than a kayak one myself.

I've been kayak fishing for nearly 20 years now. I'm steadfast against any more sub forums because it silos information from groups that might not otherwise show interest. In fact, I've never browsed topics via forum categories. I look at threads I'm following and new threads. Putting kayak fishing in a silo wouldn't benefit that aspect of the sport. It's probably before your time in a kayak, but there were a few kayak only forums on the interwebz. Where are they now?

Fair enough, I was hoping it would spark discussions.

I’m on a discord server which has a kayak fishing channel. There’s a few regulars in there but they’re all active. Most of them also live within a three hour drive from me too and have fished many of the same lakes which makes it a lot more interesting which is why I thought of it

i would love a kayak specific safe space.   but i wouldnt expect much traffic.

i dont know squat about powered boats, and that is where the majority of the population lives and plays from what i can tell.

I agree that the forums don't need more items. It could get pretty silly and cumbersome. Just imagine if there was a johnboat heading, a kayak heading, a bank fishing heading, a canoe heading, a pontoon heading, a plastic boat heading etc......

About the only time that I remember that there are subforums is when I get told that my topic was moved...and a couple times a year when I want to go browse around the flea market

i know a forum that breaks the boats up BRAND SPECIFIC!!  dumb.

but there is no denying that a kayak/canoe  is on a different spectrum from a powered boat.

We don't need to subdivide the forums any further.  There just isn't enough chatter about kayaks to warrant a new forum.  However, maybe we should have a separate forum for Big Game line. LOL!!

Ya, I know that one.  It has a bunch of outcasts from here stirring the pot and immersing themselves in contrived controversy while attacking anyone who disagrees with them.  They have no idea how good they're making us look! :)

Or maybe a BFS forum.....kinda kidding but not totally kidding.

That would be a one stop and shop for me to reply to every thread to get a spinning combo lol

I've been fine with BR as-is, and as a kayaker. Just saying.

I did join (early on) another kayak bass fishing forum <cough>

but once I found this site it was game over.
