New guy look for advice

Featured Replies

Hi all, Im not new to fishing just new to bass fishin.

I go to school in AZ and loev fishin our local urban lakes, but Im from New Jersey and my family has a place in central Mass. on a nice lake.

I have a few spinning rods from an ultralight to a medium walmart special that I use here in AZ.

Im lookin to get an entry level baitcast setup, probably from BPS. Anyone have any advice on my first rod/reel combo? anything I should stay away from/ gimmick features I dont need?

thanks in advance for the help!

Well by "entry level" i'm usuming a somwhat cheaper price.

If i where you i would get a  Browning or BPS reel. there are a ton of models, just get the best you can afford.

As for a rod, i would get a Berkly Lightning Rod for $30 or a Fenwick Eagle GT for $50. Those are the best rods for their price range. Stay clear from Ugly Stiks.

just my humble .02 ;)

EDIT:

Oh and i forgot, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!!! ;)

JNolen69 First off welcome to the boards.

Without knowing your price range its hard to give suggestions.

I would reccomend a St. Croix Premier with a Johnny Morris reel.

Hey jnolen69, I sent you a personal message.
