Fishing In November up north has been great

Featured Replies

In past years I usually hang it up in November, maybe here and there a day with one or two bass, with mostly skunks. However, this November has been incredible. I fish around Chicago, so it can be really cold. I’ve been out four times so far and have caught three over 4lbs and four over 3lbs. I can’t usually crankbait except for early spring before the weeds choke up the lakes. This year the weeds died off, and it’s been good cranking water. This fall I have been catching good bass on a Rapala OG Tiny 4, and good numbers too. Best baits so far have been the OG Tiny 4, mini max, jig and chunk, and neds. I’m not used to catching so many fish w the water in the mid/low 40’s. Have any of you northern guys been getting out there this fall? Most fish have been shallow too, between 2 and 4’.

I fish in PA and was out on the river yesterday. Water was in the mid 40s and we were catching decent bass shallow. Now, the lakes here seemed to be deeper.

Hang it up around Thanksgiving so still out there.  Right now catching on swimbaits & spinners water high 40s.

Are you fishing morning or afternoons?

This has been a great November for me as well.  First light, been hitting a shad frenzy at a chokepoint leading out to a deep flat at 20-25'.  Those fish have been hitting on jigging spoons(war eagle, duh spoon), tailspinners(deracoup),  flutter spoons(chinook s laser), or small under spins(dj tb mini).  There's been some crazy numbers and some decent bigs in these frenzies.  By midmorning I'm usually hopping a blade bait and cranking the mostly weed free lake too.  Still trying to get a big bait bite going.

I quit at the end of October, but they were still hitting then. I think I'll fish a little longer next year, like I did last year. I'm two degrees north of you. Three four-pounders in three trips is excellent fishing!

That’s no joke!

I am hoping for some rain to get the river up. It’s scary low for this  time of year.
