Tinley Park fishing & outdoors show

I just heard it’s coming back to the Tinley Park convention center February 16th, 17th & 18th and they’re supposedly doubling the size and vendors. Although I wasn’t impressed last year if I’m around I’ll be there.

Detroit area's show ends today, started thursday. I went thurs. after work (like every year), because it is the only day that KVD has his seminar. They have this pool called "lake ultimate" that is stocked with hatchery trout. It's supposed to be the largest in america.( i estimate 100' x 35')I am amazed at his casting skills. 3/8 oz. spinnerbait, forward roll cast about 60', and hardly a ripple entering the water. He didn't catch a trout on the spnrb8, but did catch them on his jerkbait, a new crank from SK, and some on a ned. I could watch him cast at targets for hours. I spent about the same amount of money on tackleas i did for parking and entry. $25 i beat that Monkey down.  😛

@detroit1 That’s awesome you kept the monkey at bay. My favorite local shop “Anglers Outlet” out of Tinley Park Illinois was up there this year and was how I heard about the Tinley Park show.

So they moved from the high school to the convention center. For nearly 20 years I used to work the booth for my fishing club when the Tinley Show was put on by the Tinley Park High School Booster Club. Now that the high school doesn’t run the show, I see the cost to have a booth has risen by 400%. Last time we were there, just before Covid, we paid $75 for the booth at the two day show. It’s now $305 for a 3 day show.  It used to be a place for most of the attendees that just wanted cheap fishing tackle, different from those that used to go to Rosemont and lately Schaumburg. Curious to hear how it does at the new location

The fella that used to run the Tinley show retired and moved to Arizona is what I heard.  That show was done so well by the HS and it made enough to act as the only major fundraiser for all the sports teams at the HS.  I didn't go to the show at the convention center last year but I heard it was very underwhelming.  I guess there was a wrestling tournament there on the Saturday and people had trouble finding a place to park.

With all that said, it sounds like a lot more vendors will be present this year and the entire facility will be the show.  I asked and they said a complete vendor list will be posted in early February.  Granted, they said something similar last year and never posted it.  I'll wait till I hear if the show was decent before I decide to go on Sunday this year.  The seminar schedule is not that impressive IMO.  The Schaumburg show is always good.

I was at the show on Sunday last year and I can honestly say underwhelming is an understatement. If there were more than a half dozen booths selling new fishing gear(lures) I’d be hard pressed to remember them. The only big name and most well rounded booth selling a good selection of everything was Anglers Outlet which is where I got this years information from.
