ABU GARCIA REVO S - Try ThisGreat Reel!!

Featured Replies

If your looking for a low profile baitcaster that has a lot of bang for your buck then try the ABU GARCIA REVO S. It has 9 bearings and a ratio of 6:4 to 1. I'm a Shimano man at heart, but I tried two of these and fell in love with them. The cost is around $99.00. It casts like a dream and is very light. I didn't even have to set the brakes on them. Try it you will not be disappointed. Shimano Posse..sorry...just my honest opinion..lots of love to you guys ;D

[i'm a Shimano man at heart...]

You can still be a member of the Posse, little indiscretions are overlooked.

I recently bought a new REVO S in left hand retrieve and while I've only had the chance to play with the reel once, its not in the same league as my two Shimano Citica 201's that I've bought in the last four months. I might of gotten a bad one perhaps....I do know that they all ain't the same in build. Even my two citica's feel different with my first reel boughten notably smoother in operation. I'am really new to baitcaster's and have no brand loyality as of yet but thats starting to change ;)

This one's even a little better.

Be sure to read the second pg. to see this:

The drag system of the Revo STX was the most impressive I've fished to date in such a small reel. In the lab, our Revo STX produced a killer 24 POUNDS of drag pressure when locked down. That's right!!! 24 lbs of drag pressure!

I own 2 of the Revo STX's and 2 of the S models so far and both are extremely nice reels.....you wont go wrong buying either of them.I have to get 2 more and I'll be done.

I have seen these new reels and they do look nice.  I've fished with Curados through three different model changes in the last 10 years or so.  What scares me about ABU is that they come out with a new model every year or so.  The reels never seem to catch on.  I never hear anything good about the multitude of models.  I did use the old 5500's years ago.  I would like to try the new Revos.  Did ABU get it right this time?

In my honest opinion, Abu Garcia hit a home run with the Revo S reel. It does everything extremely well when fished out on the water, where it counts. The only complaint I have heard about them was from a guy who said they were too small profile, it cramped his hand while fishing all day.Its a workhorse of a reel, although I have not had it a full season yet, I have put it through a pretty wide test.I didn't find anything to complain about, boated a 15+ lb carp when I fouled hooked it in the side with a rattle trap.I couldn't believe how easy I could reel him back to the boat, only to have him take drag back out once I got him there, he was too big for my net. I finally tired him down to grabbed him by the tail and pulled him in the boat to unhook my trap.Like I said I was in awe that I could crank him back to the boat with ease while he was trying to swim away from me. For $99.99 , they might be very difficult reel to beat.Ivan
