Jerkbait/Topwater Rod

Featured Replies

Considering buying the Megabass Orochi Jerkbait Special or the Shimano Expride B. I have read numerous reviews and still undecided. Anyone have experience with aforementioned rods using both a jerkbait and topwater lure? Thanks for any suggestions.

I really like the 6'10M expride for mb 110's, jr's, +1's, showerblows, and poppers.  If you end up choosing that rod, feel confident that those lures will certainly work.  MB orochi's are nice rods too, I just don't have any experience with them.

I have the 6-10 Expride and i agree its great for topwater and jerkbaits. I have a Orichi Brailist and its a great rod, but i often reach past it for an Expride. Don't think either would be a mistake though.

I had the jerk bait special but it didnt speak to me, most likely because  prefer the Ronin. That rod is jerk bait fire....Sold off my JB special. It's well made though. Orochi's are really nice rods.

If you're over 1/2oz most of the time the 7ft2in Moving Bait/Shower Blows rod from Evergreen is amazing.  Like I bought 2, good.

Hidden gem in the line up for sure!

I use an old Powell max 682c with a CH 50mg

for jerk baits and small topwater poppers

Thanks guys, I do appreciate it.

Expride. I have the Levante JBS and it's great for both and casts well right up to 3/4 oz baits but I don't like the nub trigger and it's a bit tip heavy.  Fine for the jerk and wait of a jerkbait but for constant walking of a topwater I would opt for the Expride over the JBS.
