MiceNReets
Anyone use or familiar with the St Croix Legend Xtreme 7’1 MHF casting rod? If so, what are your thoughts? how does it compare to a Megabass Destroyer P5?
TNBankFishing
Which model p5?
MiceNReets
Was offered a trade for my destroyer P5 Blade. I just meant any destroyer p5 though. No specific model. My fav rod is the Victory “the grunt” 7’1 MH/F and was wondering if this legend xtreme will be the same but obviously higher end with blank and components. Is it worth the step up? Loomis13
Not sure about the destroyer, but I think the jump up in the croix rods is worth it. The legends are great rods.
Siebert Outdoors
I’ve got one of the older St Croix Legend Extremes. I really like it.
Solution TNBankFishing Posted June 18 Solution Share Posted June 18 I want to preface this by saying this is like, my opinion man. I feel the best value in the game for high end gear that is NOT technique specific are the Legend Elite/X/Xtreme lines from St. Croix. My normal tourney day setup is NRX+ 852s, Legend Elite MLF spinning, Legend Elite 7’M casting, Legend Xtreme 7’1MHXF, NRX+ 873, Legend Elite 7’4”, Steez AGS XH. If I’m putting those legend sticks up against NRX and Steez competition I believe they perform and do so very well. They aren’t going to be the “best” at anything but d**n they do everything in their weight range so well. I fish from a kayak so while I have a couple sticks which do 1 thing only I value versatility. For your direct question of trading for a blade. I’d pass. The p5s are great but you’re already losing $150 in the trade as well as any warranty support. Plus the blade is significantly less versatile compared to the Xtreme. If you need a chatterbait rod in the victory like checkout the rip n chatter.

Also I have the p5 blade and someone wants to trade me their Xtreme for my blade. I was thinking it’s a win for me due to the higher price tag on the Xtreme and warranty knowing SC will take care of me as for MB won’t.

I have that exact model and love it for everything 5/16 to 1/2 reaction, trigs, swim jigs, the list goes on. Great stick.
DaveT63
I would jump on that trade. SC Legend Xtremes are fantastic rods.
Hytekrednek
I have a newer legend elite I got about 8 months ago. it is a casting medium heavy extra fast. I reall like this rod for pitching and texas rigs. It is just a pleasure to use. I am probably going to get another before long. I am not familiar with the p5, sorry The only other rod I like this much is my poison ultima. 7' med hvy It is also superb. Its a bit heavier and stiffer than the st.croix, so they make a great pair together.

One thing to keep in mind is there was a change to the guide train on the elite and x models last year. To me it’s disappointing but I understand. If you can source 2020-2022 model year rods I’d go that route. If you snap it you won’t receive torzites on the replacement but you’ll be able to enjoy the stick as it was intended.
