Daiwa Steez AGS 7'9" Universal Power

Featured Replies

Recently bought a Daiwa Steez AGS Universal Power 7'9" 1/4-1 1/2 and haven't decided what to use it for or for that matter what it's "best" at.

Was wondering for those who own this rod, what have you designated to?

I was thinking potentially something along the line of jigs but it also seems like it would be decent for huckin reaction baits out far.

I got this rod couple months ago and been using it for 1/2oz and 3/4oz jigs with trailer. Also using it for magdraft. Liking the rod so far and it sure can cast lure out there.

This one has been on my radar for awhile now, but I've never fished it.  Based on how my power pitch and sensor behave, I'd try spoons, carolina rigs, big scroungers, slow rolling 1oz spinnerbaits and swim jigs and a 5" bacca burrito on it to go with jigs and 6" magdrafts.  If you try and like any of these things with it, the bait monkey would like me to ask you to let me know.

I was thinking about throwing 6" mag drafts on it but wasnt sure if it would overpower the rod since the magdraft is almost at the rods limit, does it throw it well?
Are you using swim jigs or bottom contact jigs?

I'm probably going to take it out this weekend and throw a few things on it, I've been wanting to try 6" mag drafts with it.

Not the best for magdraft but it okay for it. Give it a try and see if you like it. I use it for both swim jig and football 1/2 and 3/4 oz with trailer.
