HELP - Shimano Curado K problem

Featured Replies

I recently acquired a Shimano Curado that wasn't maintained the best. I think it was dropped in salt water and never cleaned after. The button to open the spool didn't work, so I opened it up and found that the pinion gear is fused to the bearing that the spool attaches to. I've tried tapping with a mallet and overnight soak of WD-40 to no avail. How can I separate these two parts??

Try Super Zilla penetrant.

Send it to Delaware Valley Tackle and have him fix it right.

So to confirm, pinion and bearing are out of the reel but fused together?

If yes, then a 50/50 of acetone and trans fluid is the best penetrant I've found.
