Right hand dominant. Grew up casting baitcasters with my right hand and switching hands. Was a pretty natural movement. When the CU201E7's were being made I decided to try a left handed reel. Never looked back!

 

To answer the OP's question.... since I made the switch I prefer working lures and setting the hook with my dominant hand/arm.

I am all screwed up compared to most people. Strong arm/hand is right. I cast a spin my rod left handed and reel right. Cast a bait caster right handed and reel right. And then pitch/flip with left hand reel right. 
 

That’s my method and I’m sticking to it! Lol

I tried a left handed baitcaster a couple of years ago.  My brain just couldn't get used to it.  After a cast I would start off trying to retrieve like it was a right handed reel.  Bad news if I needed to bring the bait in quick.

I'm ambidextrous, but prefer to reel a casting reel with my right hand and reel a spinning reel with my left hand.  With a casting reel 99.999% of people will use a different grip reeling than they do when casting.   We palm the reel with our non reeling hand when reeling.  We hold the grip, right behind the reel when casting.   Changing hands after casting, or simply changing grips after casting seems to take about the same amount of time.   

 

With a spinning reel 99% of use grip the reel seat/rod, with a split finger grip for both casting and reeling.   Most of us don't change hands.   Mrs B does prefer to change hands.  She casts her spinning equipment with her right hand gripping the reel seat.......then changes the grip to her left hand, and reels with her right.

 

 

There's no right or wrong way.  I'm also pretty sure the fish don't care.   

I’m right handed and reel with my right. I’ve tried a left handed casting reel once and it was really awkward. Considering trying it again, because I want to get a MB Huntsman rod and a Conquest BFS. I feel that rod would be a bit more of a struggle to transfer hands with.

While I'm right handed normally - my left arm is actually the stronger/steadier of the two. So I cast left and retrieve right...all my spinning reels get the handles swapped.

 

Also, with the loss of my right eye, it's easier to hit the target lining up with the left arm/eye combination.
