Super User Koz Posted September 17, 2024 Super User Posted September 17, 2024 Are any of you participating? I’m thinking about, but it may be a last minute decision as we are very short staffed at work. It would be an 11 hour drive for me so with driving, pre-fishing, and tournament days I’d need to be gone for a week. I’ve never been to those lakes, but the pictures of Caddo are beautiful. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted September 17, 2024 Super User Posted September 17, 2024 I say you do it, let those of us that can't go live through you vicariously. Sounds like you learned a lot on your last tournament and can apply a lot of that to this one. Yes, I've heard Caddo is beautiful. Good luck if you go ~ Quote

Even if I get the hotel staff hired and trained, I'm out of sponsor money for the year so it's all out of pocket. Next year it will be a little easier as my now independent hotel will be a franchised property with a major brand and then my lodging costs are only $35 a night. 1 Quote
Super User Koz Posted October 11, 2024 Author Super User Posted October 11, 2024 It's official. I'm not heading to Caddo. My hotel is too busy. I've also been sick with a chest cold the past week and while I have still worked I need to take a day or two off to try and recuperate. I don't think I could make the 11 hour drive feeling like this. This stinks because this looks like a beautiful place to fish. And with the hurricane in FL it looks like my Florida vacation trip is off as well. I guess I'll save my money and wait until next February or March to go somewhere to fish. By then the tournament schedule should have started so I guess those events will be my vacation. I have 4 weeks of vacation banked plus I accrue another three weeks in January so technically I have almost two months off next year. Quote
Susky River Rat Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 @Kozdo the susky one if they have it there next year! Quote

I've heard it's a great event but there's no way my AP120 is going to handle a river like that. I heard the AP anglers were limited to a section they called the Kiddie Pool 🤣 If I did a tournament like that I'd probably have to rig up my old Seastream pedal drive kayak. I might even go old school with no electronics. Or just my Humminbird for mapping and maybe side imaging. I don't see the need for FFS or risk getting that transducer damaged. Quote
Susky River Rat Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Mapping is useless in that river till you get down to the pools and tidal. It all depends on the level too. I think it was around 4ft for that tournament. Right now it’s 3.4 or lower. It doesn’t seem like a big change but 4ft and up I can run most places in my boat. 3.5 is the danger zone for me. At the very least I think it would be very enjoyable and different for you. My only word of advice is make sure you’re in a stretch with someone else. 1 Quote

The Bass Elite schedule for boaters just came out, would be nice if the Kayak trail would be released soon too. Last year it wasn’t published until late December. Quote

Steve (Owens) said he was still working with two area Chambers of Commerce. Because they meet only once or twice a month it takes awhile for the negotiations to be completed. 1 Quote
