Repair Shop recommendations in Indiana

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Recently bought a Steez from Japan, and put it to work tussling some fish out of grass. I also accidentally hit the clutch at the end of a cast while the spool was still running and it made a not great sound. Combining all of these factors its making some not normal noises while reeling and casting now, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for shops to take it to in Indiana (preferably the Indianapolis region)

If you don't get any suggestions of a shop in your area, spend a few bucks on shipping and send it off to DVT. I know what likely happened and if it were one of my Daiwas, I'd attempt to fix, or replace the parts responsible.  I am very comfortable tearing down my reels to the bones. I wouldn't do it to someone else's reel, though or I'd offer to.  If you're not completely confident in whoever will be working on your Steez, send it out to DVT and don't worry. You'll get it back working better than when you got it.

just send it to DVT for a servicing over the winter and be done with it.  It will come back like new, freshly greased and working great.

Thank guys I'll take a look at DVT. The website is a little bit on the older side, but I assume they are able to work on more modern reels. I have a 24' steez so that is the only thing I am concerned about.

A number of guys here on the forums send their reels to DVT for repairs and routine maintenance. If I needed some major repair on a out-of-warranty reel, Mike is who I'd send it to.

I'm from Indiana and sent to DVT in the past, no problems and fair pricing.
