stupid tube rigging 2.75" tube

Featured Replies

Hey guys, anyone know of a way to rig a smaller 2.75" tube up "stupid" style?  I have experimented with tube size, and I just get bit much more on my creek and river smallies with a smaller size tube.  If I rig with exposed a hook, it is almost impossible to fish some of the very rocky areas.  I run a larger tube, I don't get the quality bites.  Any ideas or help!  Thanks much.

I use the Lazer Trokar Weedless insert tube heads.  The 1/8 oz. size fits 2.75 tubes well.

You can get exposed hook type jigheads that have a wire weedguard on them. The guy that used to make them for me retired, but I'm sure some garage maker out there still does them

Thanks for the replies/info guys.  I found what I was looking for . . . "Bite Me Tackle" has stupid tube jigs that go down to a 2/0 hook size.  They are built for smaller 2.75" tubes.  Already sent in my order.

Hey Shadow,  good find. I just put in an order too after see this thread.

thanks

I don't know about "stupid" but I t-rig a lot of tubes in various sizes to make them weedless. I like using a small wide gap hook with a 1/8 bullet weight for smaller tubes.

Mustad 91768 size 2 hook hand bent from 30 to 60 degrees poured into a Do-It tubehead mold.
