Rod for curado e7

Featured Replies

Just picked up a curado 200e7 off market place for a steal ! Probably going to throw 50 lb braid on it and use it for buzzbait toads and open water frogs. What rod do you guys use for those applications? Preferably under $150 and 7'3" is max length for my liking. Color match isn't that important but it is a plus. Thank you

Curado rod in 7'3" MH or Heavy. Checks off all the boxes for you. And it's a perfect match!

The 200 E7 is my absolute favorite reel.
I have one on 3 MH/F, 1 H/F and 1 H/XF rods that I use most often.
There really isn’t a rod that wouldn’t be ideal for any presentation you would want it for.

Megabass Perfect Pitch goes on sale for 150ish fairly often

I think you will love the reel.  When I decided to dedicate a rod for frogs, my 200E7 was the reel I chose.  I feel in your situation that a MHF is enough rod.  As for a rod, the Lew's TP-1 Black Speed Stick is on sale at TW ($140 rod for $100).  No experience with them, but have read a few reviews and they seem to be excellent for their price.  The 7' MHF lure weight is for lead only.  I've encountered this type rating with other brands as well.

Mine too. I have several E7's as well and an E5 and 300 sizes and other E series reels.

I've got my E7 on a Megabass Levante Diablo Spec R as a spinnerbaits setup.

Performs well and looks nice with the dark greens
