Braid Smaller Than 10 lb (< .007) ?

Has anybody tried the newer braids in weights less than #10 lbs. (or approx less than .007 diameter) ? Curious how they handle and if casting distance decreases or increases ? Thinking about putting together a Micro TRD on a Ultra Light spinning set up .

I'm very pleased with this line yes casting is definitely increased. It's only .0029. It true to rating and it also comes in 7.5 and 9.2 pound. 9 pound is .00420241024_143957.jpg.7a13897a0b2470e8f31e4157a28870a5.jpg

I fully admit to being a meatball sometimes with hooksets but I was snapping Sunline D-fier 9lb at or above the leader knot waaaaaay too often.  It was the braid snapping not the fluorocarbon (caught a fish with my old bait, 6ft of leader and 3 inches of braid).  Old style or new style  braid, I'll stay at 12lb minimum.

I use Power Pro 8/1 and 5/1 when I can get it.

I've used Sufix 832 in 8# which is right at .007 and not had issues. I'd be confident in the 6# at .006 to use it if I wanted lighter.

Another option is Sufix Nanobraid. It's thinner at the same pound test....8# is .005 down to 2# at .001. The In Fisherman guys who fish light braid swear by it.

I fish down to PE#0.5 on finesse spinning, and PE#0.6 on BFS.

It's all about extra distance.

It's all pretty tough, too.

I've got 5# (I think) on one reel.  Only problem I've seen so far is abrasion resistance is about zero.  Extremely thin line.

I see Sufix Nano Braid as a possibility but have not seen it in Hi-Viz options ?

Thanks Tom ! ... The issue which can occur with very thin braids are wind knots (even with using good reel / rod techniques) . Fins has a good reputation as being one of the better lines less prone to wind knots with thinner diameter braids.

No - it does not have a Hi-Vis variant.
