Rod bond U40 -

I put a split cork back together on a 70-y-o SB rod that continued to fish hard.

@PBBrandon I'm going to add a ps here - Rod Bond will keep for 20+ years.  It will remain tough and pliable on your rod and will never itself crack - it's made to move with the rod.  Selah.

I second the epoxy…either a 5 minute or 30 minute marine epoxy. Be generous with it and with the remnants that squeeze out, run your finger over the excess to smooth it out and seal. Good as new.

This thing is never on.

I'm going to restore IQ to this thread.  Rod Bond is epoxy - it's the right epoxy with the right properties for OP's repair.

It's flexible, it's UV-resistant, it will last indefinitely, never become brittle and never crack.

Likewise, JBWeld is epoxy, so hard, you can grind, drill, and tap it.

It would be the wrong epoxy for OP's repair.

you’re right that rod bond is probably the best choice. However, standard 30 or 60 minute epoxy is also perfectly acceptable. And most people have it on hand. You or I might happen to have a pair of u40 tubs in the drawer but most won’t. And for $15 plus shipping that’s a chunk of money for something that’s basically got one use and that he needs two pencil erasers worth in volume. Most people will have a double syringe of 30 minute epoxy in the drawer already.

if you have to buy something anyway-sure get u40. If you have 30 minute epoxy on hand already just use that.
