What pound test do you use for finesse fishing?

Featured Replies

What pound test does everyone like to use for dropshotting, shakey head, etc.?  I am thinking about going with 8 lb.

It would depend on which lure I was finessing.I fish a 1/4 oz. shakeyhead on 8-10# flouro on my lake.

With me I go with 8 pound at first.  Its a good medium between the three.  Personally I've never had to change from my 8# to anything else.  Unless I know there is large bass in the area, then I go to #10 and a longer rod.

4lb for split shots and 6lb for all other finesse worming.

I fluctuate between the 8# and 6#, but usually find my way to the 8.  I am looking forward to experimenting with a copoly or fluoro this year, however.

#6 in open water and deep clear water. #8 if I am around cover like grass and such.
