MLF was actually just there last year, little different playing field, but BASS guys could have fished the Chowan if they wanted this year.    They went to the Chowan River and Drew Gill won it.  2024 Bass Pro Tour U.S. Air Force Stage 5 - Chowan River Presented by WIX Filters - Major League Fishing

I doubt we'll ever see a beat down like this again, I mean Kyle almost lapped the field.    I didn't think it was possible for somebody to win by 45lbs lol.   It's just mind boggling.

BASS really needed that event, and to their credit they listened to fans and reduced the amount of commercials and focused more on fishing.

It's funny - on my local Lakes, it's a lot like this tournament.  Very, very rarely is everyone catching the snot out of the bass.

Usually 10 boats are struggling but still getting enough bites to stay on the lake and 1 or 2 boats are catching all the fish.

I see it every weekend.

I definitely think catching the big bass in NC, you've got to be pretty dialed in on exactly what it is they are doing and wanting or you will struggle.

  • I've been using the bronco bug since it came out. One of my favorite baits. I figured I'd go stock up last night before they wouldn't be available for the next 6 months. This was all they had. Now the

Been enjoying a little fishing coverage with my commercials this morning 🤣   What the heck, Powroznik just wound up about 10ft of leader material and threw it in the water right in front of

  • It is TOUGH listening to Powroznik's live coverage. Dude sounds like Darth Vader. Might be time to lay off the twinkies and go for a run once in a while, man.

Totally agree. Watching tourney results on my lake I see the same thing. Top 3 to 5, depending on size of tourney, found the fish and caught them. The bottom barely catch anything and the middle seem to struggle as well.

I am happy about that though. Keep the challenge high. Only those of us on the brink of insanity will keep coming back for more after all of the skunks. Speaking of which, I'm ready to get back out there asap, every skunk is another step closer to a DD :)

All this talk about Bronco Bug .... I caved.  Despite a recent note to self after organizing plastics...about not buying any new plastics... I ordered a couple packs.  Put one on yesterday.  3/16 t-rig; pre-spawn bass feeding on shallow flats around new grass, and sitting in wood 1 to 3 FOE.

Initial thoughts

- Looks like crap in the water...to me.  Little action.  At least compared to Rage Bug, which is a staple.

- Got bit quickly hopping the flats

- Despite the hefty feel, they last only 2-3 fish - the back quarter with the flapper things breaks clean way too fast, IMO.

- They got bit sitting still, whereas, the Rage Bug yesterday gets added attention on drop and swimming.  The Bronco fish were a little bigger, but not yet convinced that was repeatable.

- Will continue to put through the paces, but I'm not yet sold that they are unique enough to hop on TW and grab a bunch more.
