Storing rods inside car

Featured Replies

Hey guys, new to the forum-

I am a college student and have to travel with my rods often. Traveling with the rods as i do now, (the handle snug between the front seat and the elbow rest) takes up room has caused me to hook myself twice when taking them out.  I drive a 2000 4runner.

I would love to be able to have holders that store them above heads. Do you have any ideas? Drilling something into the roof or suction cups for the windows? Thanks for your help

I have a '99 4runner. I'm looking for a better way to carry my rods too. I like ghoti's idea.

But what I have been doing is this, from the back(tailgate) put them in tip first. I have a short bungie cord(maybe 6-7 in.)

that goes around the handles and hooks to the clothes hanger hook in the back. For the front I have a soft velcro

strap that I use to secure the rod tips to the handle above the door( the back door handle gives more support than all the

way in the front at the very end of the rods).

This works for now, but I am always looking for new ideas.

those are both great, my ideas were thinking more of the first example. Do you know if you can make that tight to the ceiling? looks like it archs down pretty low. (regarding the first link)

In my Ram Charger SUV the rods are carried in Berkley 's HORIZONTAL rod holders attached to the ceiling of the SUV, the foam insert grabs the rods securely and prevents it from falling, you can carry up to 12 rods.
