Almost always a 3/16” unpegged.

Keeping in mind the vast majority of my waters is less than 6’.

Does that mean you aren't swimming it much? More pitching, flipping, and dragging?

Spinnerbait. Buzzbait crankbait.   Spinnerbait, because it is so versatile.  It can be fished from top to bottom, fast or slow, any weather, any water temp, day or night, and seldo

It’s a combination, but totally dependent on where I’m throwing it.
The thing about the Magnum, more so than the standard size, is it’s more versatile as I don’t pigeon hole it the way most folks do with other “swim worms” you read about.

My favorite way of all is through emergent or even topped out grasses of really any type.
If it gets lighter or even heavier (yes, heavier) in pockets I’ll drop, hop twice, pull straight up HARD (where the unpegged weight shines) and then continue

If I’m target shooting spots then yes, I’ll pitch it but that’s another presentation all together.

And then you have skimming it on top.

I'm surprised it works well with the weight unpegged. I fish the standard UV Speed Worm and fish it all the ways you do plus a lot of just plain swimming it, but always pegged or ideally, a screw-in worm weight. I may have to try it unpegged.

You should!

I hardly ever peg it.
I’ve been using it so long and tried every way possible I seem to get more strikes keeping them separate especially fished vertically either pitching, dropping periodically or using a stop and go motion during a straight retrieve

No issues with it getting hung up in the grass more or the weight and worm separating when you're swimming it?

No not really, but that’s one of the reasons I only use a 3/16.
And more times than not I want it separated enough to impede it some, then I’ll hit it like a trap.
If there any followers that won’t commit that’ll do it.

During a straight retrieve with a little stop and go (I never just swim it straight back)

I want it separated, that’s when the true action comes.
So it doesn’t matter to me if I get hung, it’s never enough to call it a consistent problem.

Play with it awhile, you’ll find your comfort zone and soon enough thiers.

A man of taste I see.  I was going to say the same.

If I could it would be frog all day, but sometimes they just don't appreciate perfection when they see it so it would be:

Frog

Spinner bait/bladed jig

popper

Popper

Plopper

Spook

My 3 are all top water.

Frog

Chugbug

Buzzbait

In that order.  You cant beat a strike on a frog.  Chugbug is a close.  Then the buzzbait is fun too.  I cant think of anything else that the strike is that cool.

Jig

Jerkbait

Bladed Jig

It was a real Sophie's Choice between a jig and T-rig
