If I'm in a place where I've never been I'll go to a bait shop/tackle store, but a pack of hooks or a lure and ask.  Usually I'll get a straight answer.

In the summer when I'm fishing ponds, I will target the matted vegetation first.

Rocks are not cover😎, another informative video from the man👍.

Don’t forget to listen for fish activity a “splash” and keep your eyes open for fish in the water.

Study maps was essential back in the day and still is! Satellite over head view shows stuff on the water like weed beds, trees, docks etc. Check the water level at the time the satellite passed vs the time you plan to fish.
