Trolling Motor Not Connecting

Featured Replies

Helix 10 with MinnKota Ultrex connected to it. The Ultrex randomly stopped showing up on the control head. Was there one day functioning normally and gone the next. No updates were done in between. All connections are still good. Thoughts?

Are you connecting the Ultrex directly to the Helix via the ethernet port?

Yes.

You may have already tried this.

1) Make use the connections are good between the Helix and Ultrex.

2) Turn off the trolling motor and the Helix and then start everything up again.

If it's still not working then my guess is an ethernet port is bad.  If you have access to another Helix you could connect it to the Ultrex and see if it work.  You could also connect it to your Helix to see if they make a connection.  This would tell you if it's the trolling motor or the control head that has a problem.   It's also possible it a bad cable but I would think that's unlikely.

On top of what TB said, check the cables at both ends, just to make sure you didn’t get corrosion or break a pin.

I plugged straight in to both of my Helix units - a 9 & 10 (bypassing the extension cable) and neither unit connected with the Ultrex. The same units and cable connected to the Mega Live transducer just fine. So must be something with the Ultrex itself?

I would call MK tech support if it were me.

Sounds like it.  If the helix is working and the Ethernet is working on it, and the plug direct from the motor isn’t working, then I’m going to guess a board in the ultrex.  Check the wires on the motor for damage just in case.

I assume you have the one boat network app.  Use the ‘call me’ feature and they will give you a call from tech support.

I agree it sounds like the Ultrex.   Do you have the Ultrex remote?   Does it work with the remote or the bluetooth phone app?

Gave MK a call and they are sending a replacement control unit. We'll see if that corrects the issue.
