2022 Mercury 115 Pro XS oil question

Featured Replies

I have a 2022 Mercury 115 Pro XS I have been running Quick Silver 10w30 oil in. I bought Quick Silver synthetic blend 10w30 by mistake. If I run this oil in it this year will it hurt the motor to go back to regular Quick Silver 10w30 next year? The filter is changed every time I change the oil. Thanks.

What does your owners manual suggest you use? Synthetic oil is usually cleaner and should be preferred.

Tom this is not straight synthetic. It is a synthetic blend. Owner’s manual says for general all temperature use, use Mercury or Quick Silver 10w30 or Mercury/Quick Silver 25w40 synthetic blend. Doesn’t say anything about 10w30 synthetic blend.

I look at the SAE rating and as long as it has the number the manual states.  Go for it.

Doesn't matter.

Dyno oil, synthetic blend, synthetic ,one year to the next, engine will be fine.

I've done it for many years.

It's one of those topics that gets overthinked.

I've ran nothing but 10w-30 in everything mentioned above in Mercury 4-strokes.

I would think as long as it's Mercury 10w30 you should be just fine.

The wording that goes along with "synthetic" gets a little foggy...

I used to fun Mobile 1 Synthetic in all my vehicles. Now I run Walmart Super Tech full synthetic, and I am changing oil every 4k miles. I don't care what the "engine oil life meter" says.

My boat gets new oil and filter every spring. I don't care how many hours...new oil and filter every spring.

Synthetic oil has a wider viscosity temperature range and should be good at 10w-30w blend and wouldn’t be concerned using it at normal operating rpm range.
